About Peugeot

Lets start with soccer boots and two brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler who founded their German footwear empires in 1924. Sibling rivalry led them to produce two world-class brands Adolf (his nickname Adi) Dassler; Adidas and Rudolf, who created Puma. This became a similar situation for the Peugeot family. It all started with umbrellas, coffee milling, saw blades, wire wheels and bicycles in Sochaux, France. All these items clearly led to eventual vehicle production. It was a business that saw Emile Peugeot gain the lion trademark and Armand founding the Societe des Automobiles Peugeot in 1896 along with constant disputes. Interestingly Peugeot became the first car plant to fit solid rubber tyres rather than pneumatic on their vehicles. The famous Ettore Bugatti was called in to design a four cylinder in 1912, seventeen years later the Peugeot 201 would arrive – the most inexpensive car on French roads and the first to use the numbers always featuring a zero in the middle. The USA beckoned and in1958 the company introduced the 404 to the Americas, a model, which went on the win the East African Safari Rally 4 times. In 1975 Peugeot bought out Citroen and is now part of of parent company PSA Peugeot Citroen. Currently new markets are being perused notably South America, Russia and China

About the Peugeot Boxer

The Fiat Ducato is a large van produced by Fiat. The Fiat Ducato is the same van as the Citroën Jumper and the Peugeot Boxer, which are all very popular vans to convert into motorhomes. All these models are produced at the same Fiat factories in Italy and Brazil, and under licence in Elabuga (Russia) by Russian automobile company Sollers (formerly Severstal Auto) since 2008. Sollers also produces UAZ off-roaders, Ssangyong (South Korea) and other Fiat platforms under licence. Russian conglomerate Severstal divested the division Severstal-Auto in 2001, and the company changed its name to Sollers in 2008. Since 1981, more than 2 million Fiat Ducato vehicles have been produced.
